Hummus with Roasted Tomatoes and Whole Wheat Pita: Sew You Think You Can Cook

Today's featured recipe comes from Group D. Lauren of Sew You Think You Can Cook made Hummus with Roasted Tomatoes and Whole Wheat Pita from her assigned blog, The Wimpy Vegetarian. I haven't had hummus in forever and I am definitely craving it after seeing Lauren's reveal day post!

Lauren had this to say about her recipe:
Featured Recipe | Hummus with Roasted Tomatoes and Whole Wheat Pita from Sew You Think You Can Cook #recipe #hummus #pita #SecretRecipeClub

"I was able to check two items off my culinary bucket list thanks to Susan!  I knew that hummus was simple enough to make, especially taking advantage of canned garbanzo beans (sorry, Susan!), but I always shoved it off with a comment of “one day.” Making homemade pita wasn’t something I thought I’d tackle so soon, but how can I serve hummus during a football game without some pita bread to go with it? Conveniently, Susan had a recipe for this too. And I have to say, it wasn’t as difficult as I’d anticipated!"

Member Fave: Sweet 'N Spicy Hawaiian Pizza

The final Member Fave guest post comes from none other than yours truly: ME! :) I have been with SRC since October 2011 - that's a little over three years with the Club and I think I've only missed one reveal day (when I was moving this year). I went from Group D member to Group D hostess in 2012 when April took over as owner. Then in June of 2014, April handed over the owner reigns to me. I never would've thought I'd become hostess or owner when I joined, but the organization freak in me loves doing the behind the scenes stuff. I enjoy drafting up the assignments each month (and making sure that no one gets the same blog twice) plus blogging here on the website and sharing some of our great SRC member reveal day recipes!

And speaking of reveal day recipes, I had to narrow down my favorite reveal day recipe from all my years with SRC. I've shared 37 recipes on reveal day - 2 were orphan rescues, 1 was this year's cookie carnival, the rest were all with Group D.

I narrowed my favorites down to Lemon Fettuccine, Coffee Toffee, Asparagus & Gruyere Tart, Carrot Cake Cinnamon Rolls, Pumpkin Streusel Muffins, Bacon Cheesy Cauliflower Chowder, and Maple Bacon Cinnamon Rolls - all were great, but not the three I struggled to pick my most favorite out of. Troyer's Chicken Salad and Grilled Chicken & Pasta with Basil-Cream Sauce almost made the cut...but in the end...my favorite of all-time is...

Member Fave: Sweet 'N Spicy Hawaiian Pizza from Fantastical Sharing of Recipes #pizza #maindish #recipe #SecretRecipeClub

I made it for my October 2012 reveal day post and it has stayed on my mind since then. It uses apricot preserves and hot sauce instead of marinara/pizza sauce, then you have the amazingness that is Hawaiian Pizza = pineapple & ham & cheese. Plus there is also the addition of jalapenos as well. I have never been a fan of apricots...like ever, but this pizza made me love them (at least in the moment) and I could not get enough of the pizza.

Thank you to all my guest posters these last two weeks! Loved hearing about your all's favorite Secret Recipe Club recipes!

Member Fave: Corn Bisque

Today's guest post comes from Amanda of Dancing Veggies - she is sharing a fabulous meal for the cold night's ahead!

Member Fave: Corn Bisque from Dancing Veggies #soup #vegetarian #maindish #recipe #SecretRecipeClub

Greetings! This was my third (!) year participating in the Secret Recipe Club so when I saw the call for bloggers to reflect on their favorite recipe of the year - I knew I had to get involved.

I knew it was going to be tough to pick just one recipe from the 15 awesome ones I did this past year (11 with group A and 4 orphans) and boy was I right! I went back and forth and back and forth, trying to decide what factor to use to determine the top recipe. Should it be the one that was most popular on the blog? Or the one that I have made the most outside of the challenge? Or the one that the most people have told me they have made?

In the end I asked my husband to select and with that the incredible Corn Bisque I made back in June when I was partnered with Cookaholic Wife. This was one of my favorite blogs of the year, mostly because Nicole and I have a lot in common - to include city of residence and age!

I did have to alter the original recipe in order to make it vegetarian (and kosher!) but a favorite Baltimore spice ensured that the original flavor profile was still there.

2014 was a tasty year, and I'm greatly looking forward to all the treats that 2015 will bring!!!!

Member Fave: No Knead Bread

Today, we will be hearing from Sid of Sid's Sea Palm Cooking - she's got a fantastic recipe to share!

Trying to pick just one recipe out of the two dozen or so that I've made for the Secret Recipe Club was so hard.

Almost as hard as trying to find the 'one' recipe each month.

I like them all. I have fun exploring my assigned blogs to find them, and 'know' when I find the 'right'
one that I want to make and blog about. And the majority of the recipes that I made and blogged
about, I shared with friends.

One nice side benefit of having good friends, I get to experiment on them.

I have to admit that there is one recipe I found, courtesy of my Secret Recipe Club assignment, which
stands out, mainly because I've made it so often. And also played with it just a little.

And that would have to be the No-Knead bread.
Member Fave: No Knead Bread from Sid's Sea Palm Cooking #bread #recipe #SecretRecipeClub

I'm so stoked that I found this 'one' recipe. I've made it for just about every gathering I could make it
for since then. In fact I even made a loaf for Christmas Eve.

I've also had fun with taking pictures of every single loaf I've made so far. And with all that bread, I've only had one failure, but even that one was edible.

I have to learn to keep a pair of reading glasses in the kitchen from now on. That jar of bread machine
yeast, I accidentally bought, doesn't work really well on No-Knead bread. Very little rise. But we ate
it anyway.

I do want to say thanks to the Secret Recipe Club and Julie from Little Bit of Everything, for not only a lot of fun, but a wonderful recipe that I will continue to make and enjoy.

And also many thanks to Sarah and the other wonderful hostesses who keep we wayward bloggers on
track and focused.

Member Fave: Raspberry-Chocolate Brownies

Today's guest post comes from one of our veteran SRC members and former Group A hostess, Jane of The Heritage Cook!

Being a member of the Secret Recipe Club is a privilege and a whole lot of fun. I joined shortly after the first group was formed, when there was just one group. We’ve grown so much that we now have four groups, each posting on sequential Mondays.

The benefits of being a member are extensive, far beyond just having a fun excuse to post a new recipe once a month. We are part of a very active blogging community where people are happy to help if we have an issue or are running a Giveaway and need more people to sign up. You can ask questions, nothing is too trivial, and receive guidance from more experience bloggers. You never know how you might be able to help someone else or they you.

Of course the most enjoyable aspect of the SRC is having the opportunity to explore a new blogger’s site each month. We get the thrill of sneaking around your buddy’s page and picking just the right recipe. Making and surprising our SRC Buddy on reveal day is a lot of fun and it is always interesting to see how someone else interpreted one of your own recipes.

Member Fave: Raspberry-Chocolate Brownies from The Heritage Cook #brownies #dessert #recipe #SecretRecipeClub

When Sarah asked us to talk about our favorite SRC recipe, I struggled. I’ve been with this group for four years, I have over 40 to choose from. How could I narrow it down? And then I remembered the Raspberry-Chocolate Brownies I made from Chris and Rachel Keenan’s site, The Keenan Cookbook.  From the top these look like any frosted brownie, full of chocolate goodness. But hidden beneath the frosting is a layer of raspberry jam! You bite down and the raspberry explodes in your mouth, balancing the chocolate with a touch of tart sweetness. There is a reason why this combination is a favorite of pastry chefs around the world.

Come on over to The Heritage Cook for the recipe and a glimpse into my family. I know these brownies will become a favorite in your home too!

Enjoy!

Member Fave: Bread and Butter Pudding for One

Today another Group D member is sharing their favorite SRC post - take it away, Shirley of Enriching Your Kid!

Having participated in the Secret Recipe Club reveals for 4 years now I've really enjoyed each and every recipe that I have been privileged to explore. As my favourite post I've picked Bread and Butter pudding for one.

Member Fave: Bread & Butter Pudding for One from Enriching Your Kid #breakfast #recipe #SecretRecipeClub

This recipe is a delicious blend of bread pudding and French toast. It's healthy since its baked using whole wheat bread and jaggery to sweeten. Using a muffin tray gives you an easy and good looking serving too. You nearly devour it when you sink into the crispy peaks and get to the soft depths. An easy, quick and delectable dish all in one.

Member Fave: Stuffed Tomatoes, Ragu, and Cookie Bars

Today's post comes with not only one favorite, but three favorites. I know how hard it can be to pick just one, so tell us more about these 3 fabulous recipes, Elizabeth!

Hi everyone! I’m Elizabeth from Food Ramblings! The Secret Recipe Club has been such an amazing way for me to get to know bloggers all over the country. I love spending time (probably too much time) pursuing all the different recipes and blogs each Monday during the group reveals!

When it’s my turn to participate in the reveal (yay Group A!), I anxiously and excitedly scroll through the links to see what amazing blogger was assigned Food Ramblings and what she did to make my recipe her own.

I’ve been participating in the Secret Recipe Club a little over two years, making it was so, so hard to narrow down my favorite to just one. So instead, I am going to share my favorite Secret Recipe Club meal—appetizer, main course, and dessert.

For your appetizer, nibble on Quinoa Stuffed Tomatoes. Click here for my post, or visit the original from Love and Flour.

Member Fave: Quinoa Stuffed Tomatoes from Food Ramblings #recipe #SecretRecipeClub #appetizer #quinoa

The main course—you will lick your plate or bowl after devouring Mushroom and Sausage Ragu over Polenta (or at least I did). This amazing recipe was when I was matched with Edesia’s Notebook.

Member Fave: Mushroom & Sausage Ragu over Polenta from Food Ramblings #recipe #SecretRecipeClub #maindish #sausage

And last, but certainly not least, it’s time for dessert. You can eat these Cinnamon Bun Cookie Bars that were originally from Cook Lisa Cook for dessert and/or breakfast, so be sure to save some leftovers for breakfast the next morning :)

Enjoy some of my favorite Secret Recipe Club picks—I can wait to see what 2015 with the club brings!

Member Fave: Pork Souvlaki

Wendy of A Day in the Life on the Farm is one of my newbies from Group D - although she has been with us for 6 months already!? Time flies when you're having fun :) Wendy is sharing her favorite SRC recipe today!

I have only been a member of the Secret Recipe Club since May of 2014 but what a wonderful 6 months it has been!!  I have made Blueberry Margaritas, Pasta, Salmon, Scones and twice I have made Pork dishes.  They have all been wonderful but the meal that keeps calling to me to make it again is from Nicole of Hapatite.  You can check out all of Nicole's recipes at http://hapatite.com/.  If they are all as good as the Pork Souvlaki that I chose from her site you are in for a great ride.

Member Fave: Pork Souvlaki from A Day in the Life on the Farm #recipe #maindish #pork #SecretRecipeClub

The Pork Souvlaki was everything a meal should be...it was easy, it was cost effective and most importantly it was delicious!!  You ended up with tender, juicy little morsels of meat that you could tuck into warmed pita and top with the most delicious tzatziki you have ever tried.  Nicole's recipe is becoming a staple in our household and you can find my version of her recipe and my review of her blog at http://adayinthelifeonthefarm.blogspot.com/2014/11/pork-souvlaki-with-tzatziki-and-pitas.html.

Member Fave: Breakfast Burgers

We will begin the New Year with some Member Faves. This was a feature that had been done before on the old SRC blog/website and I think it's nice to let some members to talk about a recipe that has stood out to them in their past reveals :) First up is Amy of Amy's Cooking Adventures sharing her favorite SRC recipe! Take it away, Amy!

I love SRC so much!  It is such a great way to meet other bloggers and to challenge myself each month.  Looking back, I’ve participated in a whopping 44 SRC reveals on my blog, Amy’s Cooking Adventures!  Wow!

While I love every single recipe I’ve posted, I’ve narrowed it down to my all time favorite SRC Recipe: Breakfast Burgers.

Member Fave: Breakfast Burgers from Amy's Cooking Adventures #favorite #breakfast #recipe #SecretRecipeClub

Breakfast Burgers were part of a 2013 reveal in which I was assigned Ashley’s blog, Cheese Curd in Paradise.

Why is this my all time favorite?  Because Breakfast Burgers combine two of my favorite ingredients (bacon & fried eggs) and pair them with meat and a homemade roll. Ah-mazing.  I fantasize about these all winter while my grill is covered with snow!

Click the link to view the amazing recipe for Breakfast Burgers!

Here’s to another fantastic year of SRC!

Note from the Owner

It's a brand new year and hopefully it will be with very little changes to Secret Recipe Club. Last year we had some hostess changes, an owner change, and a website crash.

It's definitely been a little hectic. And I found out just today that I've been checking the wrong "Join SRC" document, so when I thought there were no new applications in months...I've actually missed the last few months of applications. So to those who have applied, I am so sorry! I will be emailing you shortly!

2015 is going to be an awesome year full of tons of FUN and DELICIOUS reveal days. Coming up in the next two weeks, leading up to our first reveal day of 2015, is a bunch of guest posts from Secret Recipe Club members who will be sharing their favorite Secret Recipe Club recipe that they have made during their time in SRC.

If you are interested in joining, please check out the "Join SRC" page that you can find by clicking the tab at the top of the page.

And, as always, thank you so much to all my amazing Secret Recipe Club members and to all the readers out there for your support! It means so much to me to have your support :)
